Educational leadership at the heart of the Lead Big Red podcast | Nebraska today

A new podcast from the Department of Education Administration at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will explore hot topics that education leaders bring up in the classroom. Episodes of Lead Big Red will be shared twice a month and feature engaging conversations with academics and school leaders.

Scott Sturgeon, Associate Professor of Practice, and Shavonna Holman, Assistant Professor of Practice, developed the podcast as a new way to connect with those who exercise or wish to learn more about leadership roles in education.

“Listeners to the Lead Big Red podcast can expect to hear about philosophical and practical approaches to running schools and educational institutions today,” Sturgeon said. “We focus on topical issues and issues that our school systems and leaders need to discuss, address, resolve and manage, such as legislation and funding. “

Big Red’s main guests include Nick Pace, chairman of the Nebraska Department of Education Administration; Micah Ali, president of the Compton Unified School District in Compton, California; Michael Casserly, Executive Director of the Council of Great City Schools; Tawana Grover, Superintendent of Grand Island Public Schools; and Cheryl Logan, Superintendent of Omaha Public Schools.

While many Lead Big Red guests will have connections to Nebraska, the topics will apply to education across the country and around the world.
