Review of the local school board: the treasurer of the Alpena-Montmorency-Alcona educational services district resigns | News, Sports, Jobs

∫ The Alpena-Montmorency-Alcona Educational Service District School Board Facilities Committee recommends that the district obtain a second opinion from a second architect on the scope of work required for the Pied Piper school roof .

District officials are currently working with Livonia-based architects OHM Advisors and construction manager Wolgast Construction to address heat loss from the building, which resulted in leaks in the school’s roof.

Committee Chairman Nick Brege told the AMA ESD Education Council last week that the committee launched a list prioritizing some of the upcoming projects at Pied Piper School.

AMA ESD Superintendent Scott Reynolds told the committee that he is considering a new position of facilities manager for the district. The position would lead the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of the maintenance and operation of facilities in the district.

Reynolds said the position requires board approval before it can be posted.

Donna Baranyai, Treasurer of the AMA ESD Board of Directors, submitted her resignation letter to the Board, effective July 27, 2021.

“I have enjoyed my years on the board and alongside many wonderful members,” she said in the resignation letter. “The staff at AMA ESD are amazing and I know they will continue to work hard for the students of AMA ESD. ”

It was not immediately clear why Baranyai had resigned. She has served on the board of directors for almost 10 years.
