Southern Ohio Educational Services Center Hires Dettwiller as New Director of Highland County ACCESS

On Tuesday, May 24, the Southern Ohio Educational Service Center (SOESC) employed Tim Dettwiller as Director of Highland County ACCESS.

ACCESS is a new initiative that will provide coordinated educational opportunities for youth and adult students to enhance Highland County’s workforce. Mr. Dettwiller, who is currently completing his term as district superintendent of local schools in Fairfield, will be given this new role within Highland County.

Dettwiller has worked in education for 22 years and has served as Superintendent of Local Schools in Fairfield since 2018. As Director of ACCESS, Detwiller will begin his assignment in July 2022.

ACCESS stands for Aligning Community Connections for Employer and Student Success. This work will be managed by the Highland County Workforce Leadership Council, which is made up of many organizations within the community. These are primarily the Village of Greenfield, Southern State Community College, Highland County Office of Economic Development, Highland County Community Action Organization, GRIT (Growing, Rural, Independence, Together) ), Highland County Chamber of Commerce and Highland County Schools. All partners work together for a common goal, to provide and coordinate educational opportunities for youth and adult students to enhance Highland County’s workforce.

The ACCESS program will be administered by the Highland County Workforce Leadership Council. The Southern Ohio Educational Services Center (SOESC) will act as the fiscal agent for the ACCESS Director position as they will employ the Director. Board members will fund the new director position.

SOESC provides specialized academic and support services to 12 school districts in Adams, Clinton, Fayette, and Highland counties. Districts receive the services of School Improvement Consultants, Gifted and Special Education Consultants, Speech Language Pathologists, Psychologists, and Special Education Teachers.
